Sorry for the wait…

June 15th 2017 11:15am.

Hey guys I know that it has literally been years since I wrote on this blog, but I got really busy with finishing up high school and starting college and I honestly just forgot to keep the blog updated. Well today is June 15th 2017 and my grandmother is going to her cardiologist Dr. McGuire for her regular check up to make sure everything still looks good. She has seen him a few times a year every year since her procedure just so he can make sure she stays healthy and to make sure her heart valve is doing well. He runs a few procedures like an echocariogram which is basically like a ultrasound for your chest to look at her heart and the valvues surrouding it to make sure they are still doing what they are supposed to. I think I remember my mom also mentioning that the echo scan will also check to see the velocity at which blood is coming into her heart and pumping out of her heart. If all those things look good the doctor said he would not need to see her again until next year which is actually pretty exciting. She has never had any issues before so I do not expect this time to be any different honestly.

The Day After

GREAT NEWS READERS!!!! My grandmother made it safely through her surgery and the doctors said everything went perfectly. She is in high spirits and I was able to see her in the hospital yesterday. The doctor said the valve should be good for at least 10 years so she should not have anymore problems for a pretty long time which is good. I trust her doctor because he is a specialist in his field so I know for sure my grandmother is in great hands because doctors jobs are the heal their patients in the best way they know how right? Anyways i’m excited for my grandmother to get back to being herself!! My cousins (Grandmas other grandchildren) and my aunt (My moms sister/grandmothers oldest daughter) came into to town to see my grandmother and now we get to hang out at my house and play fun card games and make cookies like we always do. Our plan is to surprise our grandmother tomorrow with some brownies, balloons and a little gift that we all pitched in to help get. I am just sooo excited that everything worked out, I really do not know what I would have done if I lost her.

The Big Day!

January 21st 2013 6:52am.

Today is January 21st 2013 and my grandmother is headed to the hospital to receive a new valve for her heart. She always knew this would be necessary and although I am excited for her to start feeling better, I am a little nervous about her safety during the surgery. I am blogging about it today to try and vent some of my concerns, I just really hope she is okay. My mom keeps telling me that she knows everything will be just fine and I am going to take her word for it, because I know my grandmother is strong. I have a test about World War 2 in my history class today and afterwards my mom is picking me up early to take me to the hospital to see my grandmother after her procedure. She also told me that she would keep me updated on how the procedure goes throughout the day. Wish my grandmother luck guys!! I will update you later about how everything goes.
